The Alfonsina drawstring sweatshirt is made from old jeans that have been recycled and turned into a new yarn. We created this particular 100% cotton jersey fabric, which has a compact and resistant structure and is therefore less prone to sagging compared to an ordinary jersey.

Its weave is strong and thick, but the lack of plush on the inside makes it lighter and perfect for spring and fall.

COMPOSITION: 24% recycled cotton from old jeans, 41% recycled cotton from industrial surplus, 28% organic cotton, 7% virgin cotton.

WASHING: In order to best care for this recycled denim garment, wash it at 30 degrees on a gentle programme or by hand. This will preserve the colour of the jeans. Just as with jeans trousers, the colour of this garment can slightly fade over time.

ORIGIN

The Alfonsina sweatshirt is made locally, from a certified yarn, recycled by the cenciaioli of Prato. By using recycled textile fibers we preserve a very old tradition, born in our district more than 100 years ago.

SOCIAL IMPACT

For every purchase on our online shop, we will donate 2€ to the social impact project Nei nostri panni, cenciaiolis to be, which aims to create a school for ragmen, the artisans of textile recycling. Every donation will support the training of young people coming from the local immigrant reception centres.

These recycled denim tracksuits recount a story of circularity, printed directly on their surface. It's about what they were and what they are today, as parts of a low-impact circular process.

Environmental impact

Thanks to the consistent part of organic cotton, we estimate that this jersey fabric reduces at least of 28% pesticides and harmful chemicals used in cotton cultivation.

We can say the same of recycled cotton, which represents 65% of this fabric overall. As it is recycled, not even one centimeter of agricultural land has been used for its production, and also the consumption of resources and energy, due to its original cultivation, is thus reduced by almost 50%.

How it is made

The right side of the recycled jeansfabric is made with a recycled yarn from old jeans, while the padding in contact with the skin, which gives weight and substance to the fabric, is made from 100% recycled cotton from industrial waste.
